Our mission

Blacktip sharks get talked about in two registers: sensational and silent. We think there is a third — practical. This site collects the biology, the migration science, the local context, and the current reporting in one place, in plain language, and keeps it fresh with live research rather than a page that was written once and left to rot.

Everything here is educational. We are not a rescue organization, a government agency, or a substitute for lifeguard guidance. When conditions are called, follow Volusia County Beach Safety.

How the live content works

The research assistant and the updates feed pull from current, citable sources — NOAA, FWC, the Florida Museum's International Shark Attack File, university research groups, and local Volusia County outlets — every time you ask. Sources are shown with every answer so you can check the work yourself.
